I
made my biannual pilgrimage to contribute to the Damned pension fund
when they played Dublin. They may be over thirty years on the road
(as Capt pointed out), but the Damned still know how to put on a great
show.
Vanian
was the epitome of sartorial elegance in his charcoal three piece
suit with matching cravat and gloves and Captain, well his consistency
in looking the part is unequalled!
Good
sized crowd really up for it and very appreciative. Usual array of
tattooed ladies, bondage babes and leatherclad punks. Loved the build
up with a good support act, Van Cleef, and the Burlesque show.
Very different but really set the tone for a fun night out.
The
Damned took to the stage to Abbas thank you for the music,
as only they could., and delivered a great set. The usual half dozen
or so real classics mixed with a good selection from Strawberries
and The Black Album. Only one from Grave Disorder, Absinthe,
personally would have liked another but what the hell.
This
was the best show theyve done here for a few years, full of
life and mad in parts, as it should be. Really enjoyed the whole
night. Hope they continue the tradition of paying us a visit over
here every now and then.
PS.
Went to ASH recently, they played a local venue and I got a free ticket.
There was a much bigger and better crowd at the Damned, how about
that for longevity!!!

Wow
what a lovely gig.
There
were some seriously nice people here. Lots of Dubliners which is unusual
seeing as most of them have moved out of Dublin now and a wide range
of international people too. I found everyone I met to be very polite,
funny, respectable, well dressed people with a great appreciation
for the band.
The burlesque and other entertainments were fab. I was quite mesmerised
by Missy Malone, Mimi is so beautiful, and as for Kitten on the Keys,
how funny and talented is she. A real bonus in my opinion.
The Damned were fantastic. This gig had the intimacy and friendliness
that should be felt at every punk gig.
Nice to briefly speak with the Captain afterwards. Ahh, so many fans,
so many autograpghs to sign. Great to witness this.
Hope to see you again soon.
With
love and thanks....
