Had
a really good time at Northumbria university on Friday 7th December!
Me and my mate decieded to make a day of it so we started in Tilley's
bar and worked our way through the beers from local real ale to Munich
Octoberfest!! Warmed us up nice for the gig, arrived at the venue
about 7.15 ish as we wanted to see the support act and all the nice
lady performers, been to Northumbria Uni a number of times, quite
a good venue, nice size and tiered seats at the back if you want them,
only downside was the warm Newcastle Brown Ale.
First up were some lads from Glasgow "Kick to Kill"
a young band and not bad either, just read Captains blogg and I agree
they did sound like Joy Division, enjoyed them and the last song they
played was really good, but not a clue what it was called!!
Next up was the burlesque girls Introduced by Kitten on the Keys,
and everone enjoyed them apart from one crank female in the crowd
who threw a beer at the beginning, she was obviously jealous as she
had a face like a welders bench, but I thought they were a nice change,
Missy Malone and Mimi Le Meux did their acts, but the highlight for
me was when Kitten threw a pair of knickers at me and my mate (we
were down the front), they fell on the floor out of reach because
of the barrier, I have never seen my mate look so determined to do
something, he leaned over to me and said 'hold me feet coz one way
or another Im going over to get em!'
Dont worry I wont name you Andy B!! And they looked nice on
your head!!
Then it was the Damned, and I have to say it was a cracking show really
good all round and everyone on form, the set included old and newer,
the newest being Little Miss Disaster, and i think it was the
first time i have heard Shadow Of Love live, would of liked
to of heard some new material, but im not complaining as I had a great
time, and the crowd did too, and i have to say It was one of the most
good natured crowds I have ever been in, no problems like Ive seen
at the last couple of Durham gigs.
Havent a clue what the whole set list was, and did not hang around
to get one, more pubs to visit.
See you all there next time.
